Arts and Crafts in North Carolina
North Carolina is an American state known in the art world as having a progressive approach when it comes to arts and crafts and supporting everything related to the arts. For example, North Carolina is renowned across the country for being home to many arts and crafts grassroots movements. It is also home to many folk schools and non-profit organizations that support the arts and organize annual gatherings for women and men in the arts. This is a research program that wants to document and research how handcrafting and how handcrafted items and objects have been revived in North Carolina. The project is using dozen of old photographs, craft objects, past documents and historical items that are selected from museums and crafts school for studying. Other arts and crafts programs or arts and crafts departments are taking place at the North Carolina New Contemporary exhibit. This exhibit showcases the way in which arts and crafts artists see the face of North Carolina in the 21st century.
